The individual zooids are nearly 8.5 mm (0.33 in) extended and possess a wide, rounded branchial sac with gill slits. Alongside the side with the branchial sac runs the endostyle, which produces mucus filters. H2o is moved through the gill slits to the centre in the cylinder by cilia pulsating rhythmically. Plankton along with other food particle
